Sick Days

I woke up this morning with the mother of flus! Runny nose, headache, sore throat, achy body... and i'm feeling sorry for myself.

In my younger years, i didn't mind being sick if it wasn't too bad. Mum would dote on me, making me comfortable, check my temperature, fix me warm home remedies and soup. I wouldn't mind a bit of that right now. We never really grow up, and they can never help themselves. Mums will be mums.

Being sick now is just the worst when you have kiddies, especially little ones. You can't stop. There's no pause button on being a mum, unless you're lucky enough to have your partner take over. And even then, there are just some things they can't do as well as we can, and we can't resist the urge to jump in to fix it. Oh, and let's not forget, you've still got to make dinner!

Then there are times, when our beloved partners are just not all that useful because they don't want to be... or is it that they can't see that you might need some help, which only adds to your misery, because you are fuming in silence. Yes, we love our men, but sometimes....(sigh)... you get the gist.
And you've probably just come off of a couple of restless nights as your little one was ill, which got your immunity down because you're already tired, and your little darling is probably who infected you in the first place. For some reason what they pass on to us hits us far harder than it was on them. It's all a sad situation.

That's why it's so important for us take proper care of ourselves mums. Too often we're too busy worrying about everyone else, but who's looking out for us?

Don't forget you. You're important too!

Take your vitamins regularly. Keep warm when you need to, and take the time to rest or go see the doctor when you're not well. Don't just ride it out self medicating if feels worse than something common, or if it goes on for too long. Sometimes we push it 'til we can't go any longer, and we crash.
Which was what we were trying to avoid in the first place!

You've got to do as much as you can concerning your health ladies, because when it catches up to you, you'll be of no use to anyone anyway. So do what you need to.

Lots of Love, Mel
